Dillinger Gun Returning To Auburn

A .45 caliber Thompson sub-machine gun that was stolen from the Auburn Police Department by John Dillinger and his gang back in 1933 is being returned to the department today by a special agent of the FBI.

The gun was recovered from Dillinger and his gang by police in Tuscon, Arizona shortly after being stolen in Auburn. The gun was then transferred to the FBI where it remained for over 45 years.

Auburn Police have plans to display the weapon so residents and visitors can view it.
