Donald E. Davis, 97

Donald E. Davis, 97, of Bryan passed away Wednesday night at Community Hospital and Wellness Centers in Bryan. He was born June 7, 1920 in Bryan to Earl T. and Iona M. (Riley) Davis. Donald grew up in Montpelier, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1938. Shortly after graduation Don served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a P.O.W in Germany for 26 months. On December 31, 1946 he married Betty J. Smith in Montpelier and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2017.

Donald worked at the ARO Corporation in Bryan as a lab technician where he retired in 1983 after 33 years. He was a 50-year member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan and was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans. Don had enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf and hunting in his younger years. He especially loved fishing at his beloved lake cottage a Rose Lake.

Don is survived by his three children, Robert (Janine) Davis of Bryan, Linda (Steve) Jones of Montpelier, and Sue (J.R.) Roberts of Columbia City; six grandchildren, Amy Scott of Montpelier, Jeff (Selina) Jones of Maumee, Greg (Sarah) Jones of Lancaster, Ohio, Austin Davis of Bryan, Ryan (Mandy) Miller of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Natalie Roberts of Columbia City, Indiana; and 11 great grandchildren, Brandon and Katie Scott, Jocelyn, Ethan and Spencer Jones, Adelaina and Mason Jones, Finley Davis, Isabelle, Emily and Henry Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 70 years Betty, and one sister Evelyn (Davis). Jerger.

Visitation for Donald will be on Monday, November 13th from 10am-12pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan. Services will follow at 12pm at the church with Reverend Peter Paige to officiate. Interment will follow at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan with military rites provided by the Montpelier Veterans. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Memorial Building Fund in Montpelier, Visiting Angels of Edgertons, Community Health Professionals of Bryan, or Wesley United Methodist Church.
