Duane M. Towers, age 87, of Columbia, Ohio, died at 3:14 P.M. on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at his home. Mr. Towers was a farmer and worked at Powers & Sons, then Simpson Industries in Edon, and retired from Simpson Industries in Fremont, Indiana in 1992. A 1948 graduate of Edon High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War from 1952-1954. His memberships included the Columbia Church of Christ since 1946, where he served as Sunday School teacher, Superintendent, Trustee, Elder and Deacon, and the Edon American Legion Post #664.
Duane M. Towers was born on November 4, 1930, in Pulaski Township, the son of Walter M. and Florence E. (Blank) Towers. He married Norma J. Headley on December 4, 1949, in the Columbia Church of Christ, and she survives.
Duane is also survived by his sons, Lane (Cindy) Towers, of Edon, Kyle Towers, of Avilla, Indiana and Milan (Connie) Towers, of Edon; daughter, Denise (Jason) Crist, of Montpelier; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Glen D. Towers and Claire E. Towers.
Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, November 13, 2017. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Columbia Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Columbia Cemetery, with grave side military rites conducted by the Edon American Legion Post #664 and the US Army Honor Guard.
Memorials in the name of Duane M. Towers may be given to the Columbia Church of Christ.
