Donald Harrison Bredeson, 92

Donald Harrison Bredeson of Pinehurst, North Carolina died March 24, 2016. He was born April 20, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Elwin James Bredeson and Eda Harrison Bredeson. Mr. Bredeson graduated from Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Indiana. He joined the U.S. Navy in World War II and volunteered for the U.S. Submarine Service. He served on the S.S. Trepang in the Pacific Theater off Japan.

Graduating from General Motors Institute in Flint Michigan in 1950, he began his career with General Motors in Flint in management and afterwards moved to company headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Bredeson was later associated with Hall Industries in Warren, Michigan as a vice-president. In 1971 he formed his own company, Bredeson Sales and Engineering, in Birmingham, Michigan, and pursued opportunities for development and production of automobile components. He enjoyed many years of friendship and golf at Oakland Hills Country Club in Birmingham.

Mr. Bredeson retired to St. Simons Island, Georgia, later moving to Pinehurst, North Carolina. He was president of the Homeowners Association at the Country Club of North Carolina; president of The Pinehurst Forum; and was an active volunteer for many years and served many roles for The Foundation of FirstHealth.

Mr. Bredeson is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Condon, Bredeson, mother of his children; his son, Steven F. Bredeson; brother, Richard J. Bredeson; sister; Madelyn B. Stoneciper and step-children, Judy Jones Hay and C. Jefferson Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Jones Bredeson; sons, Scott C. Bredeson of Royal Oak, MI and Chris J. Bredeson (Nancy) and grandson, Nicholas S. Bredeson of Bloomfield Hills, MI. He is also survived by his extended family, son, Dwight C. Jones (Tracy) and grandsons Connor, Barron and Blake; daughter Janice Jones Ward (Paul) and granddaughters Kim W. Williamson (Wade) and great-granddaughter Banks; grandchildren Corbin (Katy) and Chase Jones, Stephen P. Hay and Christy Hay Fiveash (Chris) and great-grandsons, Jackson and Wyatt, all from Macon, GA. Granddaughter Jennifer Ward Chandler (Alan) and great-grandchildren, Emy and Michael of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Elaine B. Bredeson of Ft. Myers, FL and Charlotte P. Hancock of Gainesville, GA. He leaves many special nieces and nephews.

A graveside service in his family plot will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in Wauseon Union Cemetery, Wauseon, Ohio.
