Doris Inez Pedroza-Winn Cleland, 93

Doris Inez Pedroza-Winn Cleland, 93, of Hicksville, Ohio passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Dream Haven Care Center, Edgerton, Ohio.  Doris was born March 24, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Artura and Ellen Pedroza Winn.  She was a 1948 graduate of Hicksville High School.  Doris married William A. Cleland Sr., on February 18, 1951, in Hicksville, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2014.  Doris was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was a member of the church choir and Lutheran Church Women. Later in life, Doris was a member of the Hicksville First Church of Christ. Doris served as a Farm Bureau Chairperson and on the Defiance County Council Committee. She was active in the Senior Saints Ministry at Grabill Missionary Church and Ladies Aide. Doris was also a member of the card club. She was an AAA travel guide for Evelyn’s Excursions for 19 years.  Doris loved to travel; she visited 29 Countries, seven Continents, nine Providences in Canada, as well as all 50 states. Doris enjoyed oil painting, and completing puzzles, but her biggest joy in life was her family.

Surviving is her son, Phillip Cleland of Hicksville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sean Cleland, Carrie (David) Bussing, and Christopher (Ronae) Cleland; seven great-grandchildren; half-sister, Daryl Colson.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Williams Sr.; two sons, William Cleland, Jr. and David Cleland; Daughter-in-law, Loretta Cleland; two half-brothers, Grant Gentry and Dallas Winn.

To honor Doris’ wishes there will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 N. Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43506.
