Douglas Dean Gunn, 65 of Broadview Heights, Ohio, passed away on September 20, 2017 in Santee, California. He was born on June 24, 1950 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Leland and Phylis (Turner) Gunn. He graduated from North Central High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Doug worked as an electrical engineer for Alcoa Aluminum in Cleveland for over 30 years and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Doug is survived by his mother, Darlene Gunn of Montpelier; brothers, Jeff (Mary Beth Smith-Gunn) Gunn of Bryan, Brian Gunn of Indianapolis, Indiana and Richard (Vanessa) Gunn of Santee, California; step father, Ken Walters of Florida; step brother, Michael Walters of Indiana; and all of Doug’s friends who are an extension of his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Gunn, birth-mother, Phylis Walters, two brothers, Dennis and David Gunn and sister, Susette Psurny.
Visitation for Doug will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home in Montpelier with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
