Douglas P. Mack, 63 years, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his home in Stryker, as the result of a farm accident. Doug was born June 14, 1950 in Bryan, the son of the late Victor and Rose Mary (Miller) Mack. He was a 1968 graduate of Bryan High School, which is where he met his high school sweetheart, Manda Sue Morr, who he married on April 8, 1972 in Bryan, Ohio. Doug attended Allied Technical Institute in Chicago, and completed his education at Northwest Technical College. He attained the classification of Journeyman Tool and Die maker. Doug loved to farm, which he did ever since he was old enough to do the task. In addition to his lifelong love of farming, Doug began his working career in 1969 at Winzeler Stamping Company in Montpelier. He then went on to work for Wisler Pattern Works in Bryan, ITT Highbie – Fulton Division in Archbold, Wauseon Machine and Manufacturing in Wauseon, and was currently employed by TJ Automation in Archbold. He was devout in his Catholic faith, and was a devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church – The Ridge, Defiance. Doug was a dedicated family man who loved his wife, children and especially his granddaughter, Jordan. He was well known as “Mr. Fix-it” who could repair almost anything, and if he couldn’t, he would create something to make it work. He was a knowledgeable, hard-working, kind and humble man, and he never left anything undone.
Surviving is his wife Manda of Stryker; two children, Jason D. Mack of Perrysburg and Kelly S. Mack of Bryan; one granddaughter, Jordan; one sister, Linda (John) Guilford of Defiance and two brothers, Bradley (Barbara) Mack of Bryan and Kevin (Brenda) Mack of Temperance, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Douglas P. Mack will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Chruch –The Ridge, 5480 Moser Road, Defiance, Ohio, with Father David Tscherne officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.
