Earl Mahlon Husted, 80

Earl Mahlon Husted, age 80, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 6:45 A.M. on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Center in Butler, Indiana, after a brief illness. Mr. Husted was employed as a welder with Challenge-Cook Brothers in Bryan from 1959-1974 and drove semi throughout the Bryan area for Central Transport. He then was employed by Eagle Pitcher and retired in 2000. An avid ”John Deere” collector, he enjoyed working on small engines, restoring John Deere garden tractors and taking them to shows and festivals throughout northwest Ohio and northeast Indiana. Earl enjoyed teasing anyone who did not like John Deere. During warm weather, he would spend time sitting on his front porch visiting neighbors and waving and greeting passers-by.

Earl Mahlon Husted was born on May 19, 1935, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of Mahlon A. and Esther E. (Bell) Husted.

Survivors include one son, Robert D. (Stacy) Husted, of Beavercreek, Ohio; four daughters, Pamela J. (Allen) Grube, of Bryan, Nancy L. (Larry) Schmidt, of Bryan, Vicki L. (James) Swigert, of Necomerstown, Ohio, and Laurie A. Patterson, of Bryan; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces; three brothers, Carl (Jennetta) Husted, of Sherwood, Ohio, Larry (Hilaria) Husted, of Hicksville, and Gerald (Linda) Husted, of Ottawa, Ohio; and two sisters, Betty (Don) Cline, of Bryan, and Christena (Harold) Schlatter, of Wauseon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Virginia Jean Husted, and a brother, Eddie Lee Husted.

Vistation will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Private interment will take place in Brown Cemetery, near Bryan.

Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
