Edgerton working with EPA on water issues

The village of Edgerton had two problems in their operations and is getting help from the EPA after an audit of the town’s water department. There were no fines levied. The problems discovered include two chemicals being stored in the same room that react to each other and can cause problems, lye and gaseous chlorine. The other issue discovered was insufficient back-flow prevention in certain areas of downtown. The EPA has approved plans to modify the room where the chemicals are stores to be sure to be in compliance and the back-flow issue is being resolved now. The EPA also advised Edgerton to raise water rates and replace the village tower’s interior coating.
