Edon Village Council will have a special meeting to discuss cutting the police department’s budget

The Edon Village Council will have a special meeting to discuss cutting the police department’s budget. At the meeting, set for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, officials will consider the village’s finance committee recommendation to cut $20,000 from the police department’s budget. Councilman Lee Lawrence said the cuts would entail elimination of part-time employees. Lawrence said the committee looked at police spending in several villages in the area with a population from 500 to 1,400 people, and Edon is spending “more than a majority of them.”
