Fiat Chrysler to invest $1B and hire hundreds in Toledo, Belvidere

Fiat Chrysler is investing over $1.05 billion to retool its assembly plants in Toledo and one in Illinois. The company with plans to hire 1,000 associates.
The automaker will reportedly invest $700 million at its Toledo Assembly North Plant to construct the next-generation Jeep Wrangler and expand production of its SUV, adding approximately 700 associates. They’ll move production of the Cherokee to Belvidere, Illinois, and Fiat Chrysler will spend $350 million to prepare that plant and add 300 workers. Production of the Dodge Dart and the Jeep Compass/Jeep Patriot will end in September 2016 and December 2016, respectively. Ohio Governor John R. Kasich praised Fiat Chrysler’s plan to create approximately 700 new jobs and retooling its Toledo plant.
