First responders respond to report of disabled boat on the Maumee River.

Defiance area first responders handled several water-related incidents during the past week. One of them on Tuesday, the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Defiance, South Richland and Jewell fire departments, responded to a report of a disabled pontoon boat in the Maumee River, between Kingsbury Park and Preston Island, around 2:30 p.m. No occupants were in peril and the boat later was anchored near East High and River drives on the north side of the river. The boat was then towed to safety.
