Flora L. Bassett, 102

Flora L. Bassett, 102, of Antwerp, Ohio and formerly of Hicksville, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Vancrest of Hicksville. Flora was born August 22, 1920, to the late Francis and Hazel (Brandenburg) Miller in London, Ohio. She was a1938 graduate of Hicksville High School. On June 21, 1941, she married Ralph Bassett in Bryan, Ohio and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1981. Flora retired from ARA Food Service in 1981. She loved to drive and travel and did a lot of it in her lifetime. Her hobbies were genealogy, quilting, playing pinochle, and antiques stores and flea markets. She enjoyed giving back to others and volunteered at the Bargain Box.

Flora will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Loretta (Robert) Chapman of Hicksville, Ohio, Loraine Bassett of Antwerp, Ohio, and Delores (Richard) Beltz of Hicksville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Marcie Chapman, Adam (Holly) Beltz, and Mitchell (Ali) Beltz; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Arrissa, and Ada Beltz, Axel and Mabel-Ann Beltz. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Ralph Edward Bassett; two brothers, Jean Miller and Paul Miller.

To honor Flora’s wishes private services will be held at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville with Celebrant, Patricia Peter officiating. Interment will take place at Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fort Defiance Humane Society or Crippled Children and Adult Society.
