Ohio Department of Health Officials are saying that while the numbers of people suffering from the flu have jumped in the last week, the numbers are no where close to last year, when the flu vaccine didn’t match the strain and thousands of people in Ohio got sick.
The CDC says the flu started a little later this season and activity is on the rise now. It is expected to continue for several weeks.
Health officials say the vaccine is plentiful and the best way to prevent it is by frequent hand washing, using hand sanitizer, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and staying home when you are sick.
