Fonda L. Keys, 89, of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio. Fonda was born August 11, 1935, in Sherwood, Ohio, daughter of the late Jay and Pearl (Schliesser) Baker. She was a 1953 graduate of Sherwood High School. Fonda worked as a cook at the 18 Wheeler Truck Stop, alongside her sister Frieda Breckler, who also owned the business. Prior to working as a cook, Fonda worked at Allied Molded in Bryan. Fonda loved to cook, not only for work, but also for her large family and many friends.
Surviving are her five children, Cheryl Schilt of Sherwood, Patricia (Del) Ankney of Defiance, Ohio, Elizabeth (Steven) Dalton-Armbruster of Napoleon, Ohio, Tracy Dalton of Tennessee, and Ronda (Carl) Willis of Sherwood; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Loren Baker. Fonda was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Dalton; a grandson, Jarad Sharp; five brothers, Royce Baker, Frankie Baker, Rex Baker, Kenneth Baker and Ray Baker; three sisters, Evelyn Baker, Frieda Breckler and Mabel Spangler.
Per Fonda’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services held at this time. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Sherwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio 43556.
