Frances I. “Fran” Platt, 75, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, in her residence. Fran was born March 1, 1948, in Bryan, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles F. and Nora J. (Moore) Koch. She was a 1966 graduate of Bryan High School, and received an associate degree from Fort Wayne Beauty College. Fran married Lynn M. Platt on February 14, 1970, in Bryan, Ohio, and he survives. Prior to retirement, Fran drove bus for Hicksville Schools and Four County Career Center. She also previously worked at Hardees, as a beautician, and as a clerical worker for Allen County Adult Probation. Fran was a compassionate and caring person, using her crocheting skills to make octopus for babies in the NICU, and blankets and hats for cancer patients, both at Parkview.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Lynn of Hicksville; two daughters, Stephanie Turk of Antwerp, Ohio, and Tracey Platt of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three grandchildren, DJ (Jessica) Turk, Daniel (Alexis) Turk, and Alison Turk; six great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and two siblings, James A. Koch of Bryan, Ohio, and Peggy Hawkins of Bryan, Ohio. Frances was preceded in death by her parents.
To honor Frances’ wishes, no visitation or services will be held at this time. The family will hold a private gathering at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 706 Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526. OR
