Gary Gyurnek, 63

Gary D. Gyurnek, 63 years, of Bryan, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 10, 2014 while on the job as a truck driver for Garner Transportation.  Gary was born May 29, 1950 in Sherwood, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Luella E. (Sigler) Gyurnek.  He was a 1969 graduate of Fairview High School.  Gary married Sharon A. Kopke on December 24, 1999 in MacClenny, Florida.  Gary worked for ARO Corp for 42 years.  He also worked as a mechanic at Bob’s Marathon from the time he was 18.
Gary was heavily involved in driving tow trucks and was one of the best around.  He also loved to assist at Oak Shade Raceway and at the former Bryan Raceway driving the tow truck at the races.  Gary was trustworthy to a fault and was as good a mechanic as one could find.  Recently, Gary was a truck driver for Garner Transportation.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon A. Gyurnek of Bryan; two daughters, Heidi Gyurnek and her fiancé Dallas Gillett of Montpelier, Chrissy (Craig) Kammeyer of Huachuca City, Arizona; four grandchildren, Tad Kammeyer, Dylan Gyurnek, Dakota and Jerrica Gillett; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Aerith Kammeyer; two brothers, George (Sandra) Gyurnek of Defiance and Joel “Sam” (Carolyn) Gyurnek of Roselle, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Jodi Gyurnek and two sisters, Clara JoAnn “Jill” Gyurnek and Joyce E. Collins.

Visitation for Gary D. Gyurnek will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for Gary will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at New Life Worship Center, 14451 County Road C, Bryan with Pastor J. Mark Holbrook officiating.  Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
