George Eugene Heist, 85

George Eugene Heist, 85 of O’Fallon, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 9 at Delmar Gardens on the Green in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born on October 17, 1932 in Montpelier, Ohio to Ralph Eugene and Helen Marie (Long) Heist. George graduated from Montpelier High School in 1950. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as a Tank Gunner in Germany.

George was an auditor for Moose Haven in Aurora, Illinois, and worked for Corning Glass Works in Greenville, Ohio. He also was a shoe salesperson for a retail outlet in Greenville and the Mishawaka Shoe Company.

George is survived by a daughter Mindy (Donald) Elledge of O’Fallon, Missouri, two sons Kevin (Leigh) Heist of Angola, Indiana and Lane Heist of Galion, Ohio; five grandchildren, Chad, Jordan and Ryan Elledge, Michael Jennings and Jacob VanVleet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Eston E. Cole, and wife Judy (Mills) Heist.

Visitation for George will be held on Wednesday, August 15 from 4-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Services will be on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice Patient Foundation 14805 N. Outer 40 Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017.
