GM Lawsuits Update

Two lawsuits, filed in Defiance County against G-M by surviving spouses of former employees at the Defiance plant, are dismissed. The suit filed by Marsha Bennett, of Paulding, surviving spouse of Arby Bennett, was voluntarily dismissed, due to a legal issue about what caused her husband’s death. A suit filed by Helen Black, who also lives in the area is the surviving spouse of Rudolph Black…her case was dismissed when GM reached a settlement. Both plaintiffs ask they be allowed to receive widow’s benefits from the state’s workers compensation program. That has yet to be decided.
