$9,595 to be exact, according to U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s office. The money will be used for operations and safety, and is being provided through a grant by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.

The Defiance Fire Department was awarded this funding as part of the round 17 competitive fiscal year AFG program, which helps firefighters and other first responders improve their ability to protect the public and themselves.

Training, facility upgrades and modifications and supplies, such as protective equipment are all included.
