Groups work to count, help homeless in Ohio

Count­ing the home­less in north­west Ohio is hap­pen­ing on Jan­u­ary 26th. Two local orga­ni­za­tions are tak­ing part in the annual point-in-time count. The count is hap­pen­ing across the Buck­eye state to mon­i­tor the num­bers, sup­port efforts to meet their needs and raise aware­ness of home­less­ness. The groups are look­ing for vol­un­teers to help col­lect infor­ma­tion from ser­vice providers, schools, health care facil­i­ties and oth­ers to iden­tify indi­vid­u­als and fam­i­lies who are home­less dur­ing the count. Vol­un­teers also are needed to go out and do phys­i­cal searches for home­less indi­vid­u­als. Those inter­ested in vol­un­teer­ing should con­tact Rau at 419–782-6962 or at mrau@nocac.org.
