Hans F. Schikora, Jr., 96

Hans F. Schikora, Jr., 96, of Nettle Lake, Ohio passed away Sunday evening at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. He was born on December 30, 1919 in Dortmund, Germany to Hans Paul and Franciska (Oberthin) Schikora. Hans served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Doris E. Taylor and she preceded him in death on May 23, 1981.

Hans was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 265 in Wauseon where he served as a Commander. Hans worked at Doelher-Jarvis as a Tool and Die maker in Toledo for 35 years and then went to Paben-Harlow in Toledo for 4 years.

He is survived by two sons, John Schikora of Nettle Lake and James (Debora) Schikora of Ney, Ohio; two daughters, Katherine Hunt of San Diego, California and JoAnn (Thomas) Reining of New Boston, Michigan; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Hans was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, one son Frederick, one sister Irene Hettesheimer, and two grandchildren, Mark Hunt and Jon Schikora.

A time to receive friends will be on Friday, May 27th from 12-1pm at Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Graveside services will be on Friday at 2:30pm at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, Ohio. Military rites will be provided by the Wauseon Veterans. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given to the American Legion Post 265.
