Henry County man died Monday evening in a car-semi crash

A Henry County man died Monday evening in a car-semi crash near Liberty Center. Killed was 30 year old Gary LaVoy of Holgate. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, around 6 p.m. a Jeep driven LaVoy was westbound on U.S. 24 and collided with the rear of a slow moving semi driven by 54 year old Richard Belair of Petersburg, Mich. Traffic had slowed in that stretch of the highway due to a lane merger and road construction. LaVoy was pronounced dead at the scene by Henry County Coroner Dr. Melinda Fritz.
