Henry County man dies when riding mower overturns on him

A tragic accident in Henry County where a man died after being pinned in a partially water-filled ditch by his overturned riding lawn mower. The victim was identified as 76 year old August “Jerry” Holzer Jr. of County Road 14, rural Holgate. The scene was initially found by two men who were dropping off a trailer on County Road 14, according to the sheriff’s office. The men stopped but didn’t initially see Holzer in the water. After reportedly contacting a neighbor, they returned to the scene and found the operator submerged under 12-16 inches of water. They were able to move the mower and free Holzer from the ditch.
