Herbert and Helen Grime

Herbert J. and Helen R. (Eisel) Grime, of Archbold, passed away five days apart. Herb passed on Jan. 7, in their home, and Helen passed away on Jan. 12, 2014 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. Herb was a lifelong area farmer.

Herb was born in Archbold on Feb. 13, 1925, the son of Clarence and Ethel (Harsch) Grime. Helen was born in Berkey, Ohio on April 6, 1931, the daughter of Leo and Rosella (Miller) Eisel. On September 2, 1950 they married. They were both members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Archbold. Herb was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of the Archbold American Legion B.L.W. Post #311. Helen was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society, and a member of the Archbold American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are their children, Becky (Joe) Hernandez of Wauseon, Tim Grime of Archbold, Roger (Beth) Grime of Archbold, Susan (John) Cowell of Archbold, Mary Jo (Jay) Ferguson of Lorain, Ohio, and Jennifer (Greg) Hier of Hilliard, Ohio. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Herb’s sister, Lucille Connin of Bryan and brother, Clare Grime of Archbold, and Helen’s sisters, Alice (Larry) Mack of Berkey, Rose (Jayson) Gleckler of Metamora, Carol Gleckler of Gilbert, AZ, Marie (Richard) Gallup of Lyons, sisters-in-law, Joyce (Leon) Eisel and Rosemary (Jim) Pontius; and brothers Orville (Peggy) Eisel of Morenci and Charlie of Redrock, AZ. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Grime. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Luella Eisel, Rita Lumbrezer and Donna Gallup; brothers, Jim Eisel and Leon Eisel; and together they were preceded in death by great-grandson, Jenson Aschemeier.

Joint visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 12, 2014, in the Chapel at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archobld, followed by a Celebration Mass at 11:00 A.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home or the charity of the donor’s choice. Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with arrangements.
