Hicksville native coaches in the Olympics

From Hicksville to Rio de Janeiro. It doesn’t exactly happen every day. But that was the case for Chris Leazier, a 1988 graduate of Hicksville High School. The Crescent News reports Leazier spent a week at the Olympic Games as a member of the coaching staff for the Nigeria men’s basketball team. Leazier’s long-time friend and fellow coach Will Voight is the head coach for Nigeria and offered the position to Leazier who gladly accepted. That win automatically qualified Nigeria for the Olympics. Leazier was assistant coach by the time Nigeria played their final exhibition game against Team USA in Houston. There was no intimidation with the Aug. 1 match-up.
