Holgate Is The Latest Municipality To Increase Water Deposit

In Hol­gate, the deposit folks pay for their water ser­vice is increas­ing.

Hol­gate Vil­lage Coun­cil lis­tened to a land­lord, who was seek­ing a solu­tion to being left respon­si­ble for a ten­ants’ over­due water bills and fees. They then decided that it might be a good idea to increase the water deposit to pro­vide a bet­ter pay­ment buffer in such cases.

By a 4–1 vote, the deposit was raised from $150 to $250, which vil­lage offi­cials hope goes a long way toward pre­vent­ing sim­i­lar prob­lems in the future.
