Hoops sponsors bipartisan bill that aims to lower property taxes for elderly Ohioans who live in a house.

Rep. James Hoops, R-Napoleon, has sponsored a bipartisan bill that aims to lower property taxes for elderly Ohioans who live in a house. In response to recent increases in property taxes throughout the state, Ohio legislatures have been considering a number of legislation in the past year or so, including House Bill 598. This measure would empower local governmental organizations to develop Residential Stabilization Zones for persons 60 and older who have lived in their own home for a defined period of time. The House Ways and Means Committee heard the bill for the first time on Wednesday morning.
