The Ohio House committee responsible for the naming rights of a Paulding county road for a military hero has voted to pass the bill, House Bill 406. The bill would name a portion of US 127 as “U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Randall Smith Memorial Highway.” Smith was a graduate of Paulding High School who was shot and killed while protecting his fellow servicemen in July 2015 during an ambush in Chattanooga, Tennessee at a recruiting center. Now the bill will go to the House for a vote before moving on to the Senate.
