Hydrant flushing in Montpelier

The Montpelier Water Department has started their annual fire hydrant flushing and flow-testing program. The program began yesterday and is expected to be completed on or before Friday, July 22nd. For peope in the Village of Montpelier, you may see some discoloration in the water. The water department says the water is safe to drink and the change is only temporary. Users should everyone double-check the tap water prior to using an automatic washer, as the iron-stained water may stain light colored clothing. This could happen day or night, and usually returns to normal about a half hour after crews leave the area.
