Contrary to some things you’ll see and hear, the spotted lanternfly, the inch-long, half-inch wide insect from Asia, is not a serious menace to the urban trees in our communities, according to one expert. Stephanie Miller, urban forester with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, said while most trees aren’t threatened, the SLF does pose a danger to grapes and stone-fruit trees, such as peach and cherry. That makes it a concern for vineyards and orchards.
