State Sen. Rob McColley during a meeting on Thursday, touted the importance of an upcoming congressional redistricting proposal. He says he and others believe it will allow both majority and minority parties to have a fair say at the negotiation table. On May 8, Issue 1 will be on the ballot as the only statewide issue and would pass with a simple majority, first taking effect in 2021. Issue 1 will entail a three-step process for drawing the map currently developed every 10 years in Ohio. First, a majority vote of 50 percent by the minority party in both chambers of the General Assembly would be needed to approve that.
