Jack N. Shaffer, 83

Jack N. Shaffer, age 83, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving children at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. Born January 6, 1934, in Montpelier, Jack was the son of Orley and Gladys (Brannan) Shaffer. He was a 1952 graduate of Montpelier High School. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Eldean Platt on May 16, 1953 in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on September 22, 2014.

A farmer most of his life, Jack also worked at White Motors and Powers & Sons in Montpelier. After retirement, he enjoyed first and foremost, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers, and loved NASCAR.

Together, Jack and Eldean had three children, Kim (Beth) Shaffer, of Montpelier, Sue (Keith) Engstrom, of Bryan and Brian Shaffer, of Edon; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Shaffer, of Fort Myers, Florida, Jason (Kristin) Shaffer, of Williams Center, Nicole (Michael) Emmons, of Newark, Delaware, Chad (Cecie) Shuck, of Kendallville, Mitch (Kari) Shuck, of Bryan, Cody Shaffer, of Auburn and Zach Shaffer, of Edon; three step grandchildren, Tyson Engstrom, of Bryan, Kasey Sanders, of Montpelier and Becky Bleikamp, of Edgerton; twelve great grandchildren, Preston and Abigail Emmons, Bryant Walter-Shuck, Lillian and Allison Shuck, Hadley Shaffer, Ashlee, Drew, Conner and Nicholas Engstrom, Kiah Sanders and Savannah Balogh. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Judy Walkup, infant brother and step mother, Rene Shaffer.

A gathering for friends and family celebrating the life of Jack N. Shaffer will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Private burial will take place at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan at a later date.
