James “Jim” Laney, 50

James “Jim” Laney, 50 years, of Butler, Indiana, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jim was born May 17, 1970 in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of Robert Sr. and Lynne (Hanna) Laney. He was a 1988 graduate of Hicksville High School. Jim also attended Northwest State Community College where he received his Associate of Industrial Engineering. On November 2, 2002 he was united in marriage to Michelle Moore, and she survives. Jim worked as a tool and die journeyman at Midwest Tool and Die in Edgerton, Ohio. He was a member of the St. Joe Church of Christ in St. Joe, Indiana. Jim enjoyed reading, computers, and making people laugh.

Jim is survived by his wife, Michelle; two daughters, Holly Marie Laney and Kelly Rae Laney; mother, Lynne Laney; siblings, Donna Osmun, Mike (Maggie) Laney, Robert Ray Laney Jr., David Laney, Lorretta Laney, Lorraine (David) Anderson, Steven (Susan) Laney, Rick (Amanda) Laney; mother and father-in-law, Bill (Becky) Moore; sister-in-law, Jackie (Larry) Yoder; “adopted” brother, Tim Dietz; daughter at heart, Kinzee Stepp and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Ray Laney Sr., and a brother, Greg Allen Laney.

Honoring Jim’s wishes, services will be held privately. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel.
