Joyce L. Schaefer, 83

Joyce L. Schaefer, age 83, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 3:40 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2016, in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Schaefer was a 1952 graduate of Bryan High School and worked for many years as a waitress at Sheets Dairy Bar. She also worked at J.J. Newberry’s Department Store as a clerk, for Knox Linen Service, for General Telephone Company as a phone operator, for the Dairy Freeze and was the owner of The Stitchery for twenty years. She was a former member of Orchard Hills Country Club and ONO “One Night Out” Club, was a Brownie leader and Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteered at the Williams County Humane Society and for Outreach.

Joyce J. Schaefer was born on May 23, 1932, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Harland Morris and Beatrice Mary (Sheets) Lovejoy. She married Richard L. “Dick” Schaefer on January 14, 1951, in Bryan and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2005.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelly Lynn (Randy) Price, of Bryan; two sons, Timothy L. (and Jane Jones) Schaefer, of Warren, Indiana, and Michael S. (Lynne) Schaefer, of Antioch, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Tiffany Sue (Scott) Phillips, of Angola, Indiana, Tyson David (Tania) Schaefer, of Angola, Nathaniel Alan Price, of Bryan, and Brayden Schaefer, of Antioch, Tennessee; and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Grace Phillips and Abigail Blair Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Schaefer; and an infant sister, Alyce Louise Lovejoy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, from 7:00-9:00 P.M. and on Friday, March 4, 2016, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 4, 2016, in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Paul Scannell officiating. Interment will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan.

Memorials are requested to the Williams County Humane Society or to Community Health Professionals Hospice.
