Kathryn Sweebe, 89

Kathryn Eileen Sweebe, 89 years, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Story Point Assisted Living Facility, Grand Ledge, Michigan.  Eileen was born June 18, 1926 in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mark and Edith A. (Harter) McKelvey.  She was a 1944 graduate of Bryan High School and received her Bachelors of Education degree from Bowling Green State University.  She married Floyd H. Sweebe on June 25, 1950 in North Baltimore, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2012.  Eileen began her teaching career in the North Baltimore Schools where she taught for 18 years.  She then moved to the Central Local Schools where she taught another 18 years, retiring in 1982.  She was a member of the Bryan First Church of Christ, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Fairview Teachers’ Book Club.  Eileen found great joy in knitting, stamping, reading and faithfully walking her dog.  What really pleased her was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   After her move to Michigan, Eileen also rooted for Sparty with her family.

Surviving are her two children, Sharon (Tom) Snivley of Grand Ledge, Michigan and Mark (Becky) Sweebe of Bryan; grandchildren, Brian (Anne) Snivley of Louisville, Kentucky, Tara (Travis) Gabbard of Noblesville, Indiana, Crystal Sweebe of Bryan, Mary Jane Sweebe of Cleveland and Nevaeh Sweebe of Bryan; great-grandchildren, Taft Gabbard and Gideon Snivley.  She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Carolyn McKelvey.

Visitation for Eileen Sweebe will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for Eileen will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with her grandson, Pastor Brian Snivley and Pastor Larry Snavely officiating.  Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, rural Bryan.
