Lauren R. Posey, 97

Lauren R. Posey, age 97, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance, Ohio. Mr. Posey retired as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Ohio Gas Company in 1986. He started as a ditch digger in 1945 and worked his way up through the company during his career. He was the salutatorian of his Tiffin High School class of 1941 and began his working career with The Aro Corporation. Lauren was a member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golf, woodworking, and jigsaw puzzles.

Lauren R. Posey was born on October 15, 1923, in Tiffin Township, Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Wyatt W. and Clara E. (Schultz) Posey, Sr. He married E. Colleen Schad on June 27, 1964, in Bryan, and she survives.

Lauren is also survived by his children, Kay (Gary) Woolace, Linda (Dean) Sullivan and Doug (Bobbie) Posey, all of Stryker, Ohio, and Charleen (Curt) Hooser, of West Unity, Ohio; five grandchildren, Robin (Eric) Stewart, Scott Sullivan, Kaitlyn Posey, Nathaniel Hooser, and Bradley (Adriana) Hooser; five great-grandchildren, Kyle (Theresa) Stewart, Kevin (Tara) Stewart, Craig Stewart, Tyler (Yvette Gutierrez) Maynard, and Miranda (Corey) Decker; and great-great-grandchildren, Owen, Landen, Lohgan, Oaklynn (due any day) and another on the way; a brother, W. William “Bill” Posey, of Hicksville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Thomas R. Posey; granddaughter, Heather (Sullivan) Maynard; brothers, Leonard and John Posey; and sisters, Beulah Grace Posey and Evelyn Martz.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Shiffler Cemetery with Ted Mathes officiating. Services have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan.

Memorials are requested to the Pulaski United Methodist Church.
