Lawrence H. “Larry” Shock, 76

Lawrence H. “Larry” Shock, 76 years of Sherwood, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Vancrest of Payne.  Larry was born July 10, 1946, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Lawrence A. and Donnabell (Sines) Shock.  He was a 1964 graduate of Fairview High School.  Larry served in the United States Army, stationed at the DMZ in Korea during the Vietnam Era.  He married Sheila R. Bowman on December 1, 1979, in Antwerp, Ohio, and she survives.  Larry was a machine operator at Defiance Precision for 47 years, retiring in 2011.  He was a member of the Defiance VFW Post 3360, Defiance Moose Lodge 2094, Defiance Amvets Post 1991 and the UAW Local 638.  Larry enjoyed going to flea markets, finding treasures, gardening, canning the vegetables out of his garden, Country-Western dancing, teaching country western dancing at the Defiance Moose.  Larry also went to local nursing homes teaching his craft to the residents.  He also enjoyed DJing car shows at Vagabond Village.

Surviving is his wife, Sheila of Sherwood; three children, Robert (Debbie) Shock of Sheridan, Indiana, Brenda (Marc) Sanchez of Defiance and Anita Barrera also of Defiance; four grandchildren, Jacob Sanchez, Jessica (Jordan) Walker, Steven (Ivy) Shock and Noel Barrera; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois (Carl) Matteson of Mark Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Bennett Walker.

There will be no visitation.  Private family graveside services will be held in Sherwood Cemetery, with Carla Jordan officiating.  Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by the Defiance VFW Post 3360. Services are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 E. Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio.
