LeRoy Swalley, 61

LeRoy Swalley, age 61, of Stryker passed away early May 22, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family following a battle with cancer.

Mr. Swalley was born on May 30, 1952 in Defiance, Ohio the son of the late Gilbert Lester and the late Ruth Viola (Fackler) Swalley. On. December 19, 1972 he married June A. Govin in Bryan, Ohio and she survives. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this past year.

LeRoy worked at ConAgra Foods for over 41 years having worked there when it was called LaChoy Foods. He enjoyed camping, Bingo, traveling, playing cards, being there with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife June, is son; Paul (Kim) Swalley of Stryker, daughters, Nicole Grapengeter of West Unity, Dawn Swalley of Stryker, brothers Gary Swalley of Marion, IN, James of West Unity, Terry (Judy) of San Antonio, TX, Gilbert (Nancy) of Bryan and sister; Cindy (Larry) Rising of Stryker. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; Damian and Angel of Bryan, Gavin, Brysin, Huntre and Brode` Swalley of Montpelier, Justin Chance and Kristian Grapengeter of West Unity, Skye Swalley of Stryker and two step-grandchilren; Michael Fryar and Isaiha Freeman of Stryker, one great-grandson; Nycholaas McConnell and another on the way, two aunts and one uncle, many nieces and nephews and special friends he considered his “adopted” kids. Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandson, Sebastian McConnell and his fiancé Ashley Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday May 29, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Stryker with Pastor Matthew Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in the Stryker Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker on Tuesday May 28, 2013 from 2:00-8:00pm. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Angel Foundation of Van Wert or Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
