Lorraine A. Frey, 94

Lorraine A. Frey, age 94, of Wauseon, passed from this life into the arms of her Lord on November 2, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born on January 30, 1922 in Delta, Ohio to Howard Columbus and Anna Entenmann Vollmer. Lorraine was a 1940 graduate of Delta High School. On July 5, 1940, she married Maurice George Frey of Pettisville, Ohio. They moved to Wauseon and worked together in the family plumbing and heating business until Mose’s death in 1985. She continued in business with her son Kim until 1990. Still the tireless worker, she went to work for K-Mart in Wauseon as a greeter until the store closed. She truly enjoyed her time there as she made many new friends that she would run into in Wauseon for many years after her employment ended.

Her lifelong passions besides being first a devoted wife and mother were cooking and baking, home decorating, yardwork and gardening, and sports, especially football. She followed Michigan State football from which her daughter and son-in-law are alumni, and loved tailgating at University of Toledo Rocket football games. But her most special sports highlight was attending all games in a Wauseon football state championship season in 1993, state basketball runners up in 1994, and state baseball champions in 1995, in which her grandsons played.

Three children were born of their marriage and they survive, Reg (Shielda) of Altamonte, California, Kim (Cindy) of Wauseon and Jody Zaiser (Larry) of Toledo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Luke Frey, Matt Frey, and Leigh Ann Mattin (Dr. Michael), Greg Frey, Gordie Frey (Jill) and Grant Frey (Elizabeth), and Dr. Robyn Hubbard and Ryan Zaiser (Melissa), and twelve great-grandchildren.

A widow of thirty-one years, she will always be loved and admired by her family and friends for her strength, courage, work ethic, and independence.

The family would also like to extend a very special “thank you” to our mother’s dear Christian friend Stevie Raymond, who so selflessly helped her and our entire family in so many ways when we could not be there. God bless you, Stevie. We also wish to thank the many neighbors and friends who helped, worked for and looked out for our mother through too many acts of kindness to enumerate on her little corner of Oak and Franklin.

There will be no visitation at this time, and interment at Wauseon Cemetery will be private. However, a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a time to be announced in December at the Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon where she was a member for 70 years. The family requests that any memorial contributions be directed to the Christ United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
