Lowell Pearley Pike, 93

Lowell Pearley Pike, 93 years, of West Unity, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan. Lowell was born December 31, 1922 in the family residence in Fulton County, Ohio, the son of the late Lucius Pearley and Mabel (Wyse) Pike. Lowell was the owner of Pike Refuse Service in West Unity for over 20 years. Lowell also was a farmer and had worked at Sauder Manufacturing, Claude Rupp Masonry and even delivered the Bryan Times and the Countyline to residence in Pioneer, West Unity, Alvordton and Kunkle. In his younger years, Lowell enjoyed playing basketball, hunting and fishing, but he also tinkered in his garage and made thousands of knives which he found joy in passing out to those he came into contact with. Lowell enjoyed singing, He was a member of the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church where he served as a Deacon.

Surviving are his siblings, Faye Carpenter of Bryan, Ruth Vaughn of Adrian, Michigan, Wayne (Ruby) Pike of West Unity and Delmer (Vera). Pike of Wauseon, Ohio along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Larena Carpenter and Donna Fike and three half-sisters, Bernice Bennett, Flora Pfund and Hazel Atkinson.

Visitation for Lowell Pearley Pike will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral services for Lowell will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church, 18354 US Highway 20A, Wauseon, Ohio with Pastors Bob Carpenter and Fred Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Tedrow Cemetery, rural Wauseon. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
