Lucas County wants to reduce jail population

Lucas County wants to reduce the number of inmates incarcerated at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. A new MacArthur Foundation Grant for $1.75 million dollars is an incentive to reduce the incarceration rate by 19 percent at the Lucas County Jail and CCNO. The money will go to pay for diversion programs, electronic monitoring and a sentencing assessment tool for the courts, plus pay for another public defender.
