Man Killed In Explosion While Welding — Two-Year-Old Injured

A man from Cecil is dead fol­low­ing an explo­sion and barn fire on Pauld­ing County Road 8.

It hap­pened on Sun­day morn­ing just before 11. Offi­cials say 25 year old Mike Froelich was weld­ing in the bed of a pickup truck near the fuel tank when the tank exploded.

Froelich’s two-year-old son, who was nearby, received minor injuries and was taken to an area hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Froelich was taken by fam­ily mem­bers to ProMed­ica Defi­ance Regional Hos­pi­tal, where he was pro­nounced dead.
