Marjorie J. Buyer, 92

Marjorie J. Buyer, 92 years, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 in her residence under the tender care of Community Health Professionals Hospice. Marjorie was born February 10, 1926 in Fostoria, Ohio, the daughter of the late William P. and Myrtle I. (Vanderhoff) Baker. She was a 1944 graduate of Fostoria High School. She continued her education, provided by the Cadet Nursing Corp., at the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing, where she attained her Registered Nursing Degree in 1947. She married Merlin D. Buyer on June 27, 1947 in Fostoria, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2014. Marjorie was a Registered Nurse, primarily in the Obstetrics Department for Bryan Cameron Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1988. She then worked at the former Bryan Nursing Center for 5 years, retiring in 1993. Marjorie enjoyed knitting, making quilts, cross stitch embroidery and birdwatching. Marjorie and Merlin traveled extensively, covering all 50 states. They also wintered in Leesburg, Florida for over 20 years. Marjorie truly loved the time she was able to spend with her family, treasuring the time with each family member.

Surviving are her two daughters, Linda (James) Tighe of Mantua, Ohio and Barbara (Rick) Gray of Defiance; one son-in-law, Steven Royal of Liberty Center, Ohio; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanna (Robert) Russ of Oregon, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merlin; two daughters, Judith Royal and Patricia Nickelsen and one brother, Vernon Baker.

There will be no visitation and memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be made in Brown Cemetery, Bryan. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Community Health Professionals Home Health and Hospice, 1215 East Portland Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
