Mark C. Tonjes, 70, of Sherwood, Ohio passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at his residence. Mark was born September 18, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, son of the late Raymond J. and Betty M. (Dell) Tonjes. He was a 1970 graduate of Fairview High School. Mark Married Christine D. Culp on August 25, 1985, in Sherwood, Ohio and she survives. Mark worked for both McDonalds Design and Build and Richland Associates Inc. for a combined 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of Church of God, Toledo. Mark enjoyed working with his hands, including woodworking, refurbishing furniture, and doing home improvements. He also had a love for music and playing the piano and collecting organs.
Surviving is his loving wife of 37 years, Christine D. Tonjes of Sherwood, Ohio; daughter, Sarah E. (Tom) Arvanitis of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; granddaughter, Gaberia M. Hazell; two sisters, Kathy (Howard) Parker and Mary Dietrick; brother, John (Marlene) Tonjes. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason Mark Tonjes; sister, Martha Hart.
To honor Mark’s wishes the family will have private burial at Sherwood Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio.
