Mayor-elect McCann to take office Jan. 1

Defi­ance mayor-elect Mike McCann will be sworn in on Jan­u­ary first to begin his first four-year term. McCann beat the incum­bent Bob Arm­strong and held off chal­lenger Brian Brown in Novem­ber. McCann has served as pres­i­dent of city coun­cil for the past two years, and is hop­ing to open up lines of com­mu­ni­ca­tion so coun­cil has more infor­ma­tion to make informed deci­sions. He’s also hop­ing to make an impact on the area’s drug prob­lem, infra­struc­ture improve­ments and cre­at­ing a mayor’s advi­sory panel to brain­storm ideas for Inde­pen­dence Day plans.
