Memorial ride set for Saturday to bring attention to organ donation

The third annual Kaleb McLaughlin Memorial Ride and Organ Donation Awareness Day is Saturday. Kaleb’s parents, Kim and Kevin Oxender of Pioneer organize the ride in memory of their son who was killed in a one-vehicle crash just a year after he graduated from North Central High School. Kaleb was an organ donor who helpled dozens of people after his death. The annual event will be held at the Pioneer American Legion, 102 First St., and is hosted by Fire and Iron Station 84 Motorcycle Club. There will be a motorcycle ride, a Red Cross blood drive, a silent auction, a gun auction, a 5k run and meals served by the North Central High School FFA. Registration for the memorial ride begins at 11 a.m. with the first rider out at 1 p.m. The cost is $15 for a single rider and $5 for a passenger. Proceeds benefit the Kaleb McLaughlin FFA Scholarship Fund, Pioneer Fire Department first responders, Community Tissue Services of Toledo, the Donate Life Mobile Educational Vehicle and the Community Tissue Services.
