Menards has agreed to pay $4.25 million in a multistate settlement following allegations that its rebate advertising misled customers into believing they were receiving immediate discounts at checkout. The Wisconsin-based home-improvement retailer was investigated by Ohio and nine other states over claims that its advertisements suggested instant savings when, in reality, customers received in-store credit for future purchases.
