A one story farmhouse west of Metz was destroyed by flames Wednesday morning. Firefighters from nine departments were called out at about 1:40am Wednesday.
The house was fully involved when firefighters arrived.
Hamilton firefighters got mutual aide from Metz, Angola, Florence Township, Ashley, Fremont, Hudson, Pleasant Lake and Butler crews. Edgerton firefighters stood by at the Butler station. Eight tankers were used to battle the fire which was brought under control in about an hour. No injuries were reported and no one was home at the time the flames broke out.
Investigators say it appears the fire started in the middle of the structure. So far, no estimate has been made on the loss.
