Mike McCann, 89 years of Defiance, and a former longtime resident of Hicksville, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Kingsburg Place, Defiance, with his family by his side.  Mike was born June 27, 1933 in Beckley, West Virginia.  He married Norma Jean Lobdell on October,19, 1952, in Hicksville, and she survives.  Mike was a laborer for General Motors Central Foundry, Defiance for 48 years, retiring in 1996.  Mike served in the Ohio National Guard.  He was a member of the Hicksville First Church of Christ and the Hicksville American Legion.  Mike enjoyed anything to do with cars.  He had an eye for detail, and whenever the body style or car color changed, he usually traded cars as well.

Surviving is his wife, Norma Jean of Defiance; two children, Dean (Cheryl) McCann of Naples, Florida and Danett E. Caryer of Defiance; four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his son, David McCann and one great-grandson, Isaiah Knapp.

Visitation for Mike McCann will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m.  with Pastor Jerold Tear officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.
